The USB port forum has released the final version of the USB 4.0 standard. This interface is based on Thunderbolt 3 and provides the ability to simultaneously transfer data, charge and display the image on the screen.

Officially, the new standard is called USB4, its main advantage is high bandwidth - up to 40 GB / s, which is twice as much as the latest version of USB 3.2, 8 times more than the original USB 3.0.It will be able to deliver up to 100 watts of power.

Among the important features mentioned are backward compatibility with USB 3.1 and USB 2.0, as well as full compatibility with Thunderbolt 3 devices and cables.

Thunderbolt is an Intel technology that aims to use a single cable for all devices whether you want to connect an external drive, connect a monitor, or charge a smartphone.

The third advantage of USB4 is improved separation of data and video signals - USB4 solves the problem of reducing productivity when performing parallel tasks. Now, for example, if you have a device that uses 8 Gbps to output video, access to the remaining 32 Gbps will be fully available for other purposes.

The first devices with USB4 should not be expected in the near future, as they can only be released in 2020.
